Taking Care of Baby
My daughter’s first trip to Walt Disney World was November of 1998 when she was four months old and I was still nursing. In all my 30 odd trips to Disney World prior, I had never traveled there with an infant. I knew that the woman’s restrooms were as clean as could be so I knew diaper changes would be OK. What I didn’t know was how far Disney had gone in taking care of baby!!
Each of the four theme parks has an amazing oasis for families with infants and toddlers…the Baby Care Center. If you have little ones you absolutely MUST seek out and find these little slices of heaven when visiting the theme parks.
Each air conditioned Baby Care Center has four distinct areas. There’s the changing room with multiple immaculate changing tables, a quite nursing room complete with rocking chairs, an entertainment or break room with a TV running Disney cartoons and often little games or coloring pages for older siblings, and a kitchen area with complimentary bottled water and microwave for preparing bottles. If you have run out of the basics like diapers, formula, or cereal, you can find them all for purchase at each Baby Care Center. Just ask the Cast Member minding the reception desk.
The Baby Care Centers are located as follows:
- Magic Kingdom – next to the Crystal Palace off Main St. near the First Aid Station
- Epcot – Future World’s Odyssey Center
- Disney’s Hollywood Studios - Guest Services Building inside the main gate
- Disney’s Animal Kingdom – Behind Creature Comforts in Discovery Island
Be sure to locate the Baby Care Center at each park and take advantage of this unique benefit. Oh, and did I mention each Baby Care Center is air conditioned! It’s amazing how much better everyone feels after spending a short break in these wonderful baby (and toddler) sanctuaries!
