Disney Magic to get Upgrades During Dry Dock
Disney Cruise Lines has just announced the latest upgrades that are in store for the Disney Magic during her upcoming dry dock September 6 – 24, 2008.

Guests on many of the cruise boards have been trying to guess what the latest surprises would be. Well, there is something for everyone, although it sounds like the winners will be the adults!
Quite Cove, the adults only pool area onboard the Disney Magic, (also known as sanctuary to many parents onboard the ship) will have several upgrades to the pool, deck area, and Cove Cafe. The pool will see new cascading waterfalls from the two hot tubs, can you say aaahhhh. A teak deck and lounge chairs with plush cushions will bring stylish ambiance to the deck area and Cove Cafe will have a new seating area with lush, comfortable chairs perfect for sipping your favorite beverage.
Not to be outdone, the children will see their share of upgrades as well. The very littlest guests will enjoy “Mickey’s Splash Zone” a new toddler water playground right next to the Mickey pool. This 385-square-foot extension to the Mickey Pool on deck 9 will feature star- and moon-shaped interactive fountains, a soft play surface and whimsical splash zones; creating an inviting environment for children not yet toilet trained and in swim diapers.
Both of the children’s’ clubs, Oceaneer Club and Oceaneer Lab, will receive upgrades to their registration areas making check-in process easier and more efficient. This sets the stage for incorporating Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology in the youth activity areas later this year, which will further enhance and streamline the check-in process. The technology uses RFID tags embedded on wristbands, allowing children to simply tap a sensor to check in and out of the clubs.
Last but certainly not least, each stateroom will be upgraded to include a 22″ flat screen TV on a swivel arm allowing viewing from many areas of the cabin. The new TVs have been due for quite a while now. The old TVs have been there since the Magic first sailed 10 years ago and were just too small for the large cabins that Disney offers.
The Magic comes out of dry dock a little earlier than expected and is scheduled to have a special 3-night Bahamas sailing on September 24, 2008 before returning to her alternating Easter and Western 7-night Caribbean sailings.
